In America, we have a saying (expression) when someone talks about nostalgic things. “Nostalgic” means someone who has fond memories or longing for something that happened in the past. Person 2: And, the cartoons are completely different compared to the past. Person 1: We used to look forward to getting up early to watch those Saturday-morning cartoons since that was the only time it was broadcasted! Now, children can watch cartoons almost every day on certain TV networks. Joe, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Transformers, ThunderCats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain Planet, Ghostbusters, and many more… Person 1: Do you remember the good old days when certain TV networks showed cartoons just on Saturday mornings in America? Person 1 and Person 2 are having a conversation. You can also talk about nostalgic things without having to use the word “nostalgic”.īack in the day, going to the beach was very fun! "Nostalgic" can also mean remembering happy times in the past. When Mary was listening to the old 50s song on her computer, Jimmy started feeling nostalgic and then started talking about his high school days in the 50s. ![]() Smith, showed us some old nostalgic photos of their children when the children were young, and they were opening up Christmas presents. ![]() Think of nostalgic as like sentimental, yearning, wistful(sad), emotional, or homesick. “Nostalgic” means longing for something that happened in the past. Or, have you ever showed some nostalgic photos of your past, which made you think about the good times you had, and you wish that you could relive that particular part of your past? I will give you two meanings to the word “nostalgic”. Today, I will teach you the meaning of the word “nostalgic”. Nostalgic is a very good word to use when disucssing happy memories and times from your past. "This dish is so nostalgic, I remember when my mother use to make it for me after school." Here the person is referring to a specific dish, which reminds him of his childhood, which then brings the feeling of nostalgia. "It was so nostalgic seeing my old friends again." Here, seeing friends who you have not seen in a long time, gave the individual the feeling of nostalgia. ![]() It is often because this item reminds you of a happier time or perhaps of a very fond memory from your childhood. "Nostalgic" is when a specific item or moment gives you the feeling of nostalgia. It is the feeling you might get when you think of a very happy memory from your childhood, or look through old photos taken during a happy time in your life Nostalgia is a feeling of longing towards a certain memory or moment from your past, this can be brought on by anything that reminds you of that memory, such as an old toy, a certain smell, or even a place you haven't visited for a while. In order to understand this word, it is important to first look at "nostalgia," the noun from which "nostalgic" is formed.
